Fair Lending/Fair Housing Legal Advice Line
Idaho Legal Aid has implemented a Fair Lending/Fair Housing Legal Advice Line to address issues or questions about housing discrimination. The federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in the sale and rental of housing based on a person’s race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, or familial status (the presence of children under the age of 18). The Fair Lending/Fair Housing Legal Advice Line is funded by a Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP) grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In addition to a toll-free legal advice line, free public training opportunities and workshops are also available. You may call the legal advice line to obtain advice and assistance regarding:
- Fair housing questions
- Violations of fair housing laws
- Fair housing fact sheets and other informational materials
- A referral to other sources for fair housing information
- A referral to other organizations that may help you with fair housing enforcement
- Information and schedules of fair housing workshops and training opportunities conducted by the Fair Lending/Housing Legal Advice Line Staff
The Fair Lending/Fair Housing Legal Advice Line serves residents of the State of Idaho regardless of income. For consumers as well as housing providers in the State of Idaho, there are many resources to contact for help regarding fair housing questions:

We welcome your comments and suggestions (We can not give legal advice through the website. Unfortunately, our organization is minimally staffed. In order to save time and work more efficiently, an interview process must be completed to determine whether or not you are eligible for our services. In this way, the attorney’s on staff can devote their time to those who qualify for service, rather than non-qualified clients wishing to receive free legal advice.)
