Idaho Legal Aid Services, Inc. Statement of Support for Racial Equality and Justice

We support equality and justice for all human beings, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, ethnicity, or income. We recognize that Black, Hispanic, Native American, and other communities of color face an uphill battle for equality in our country. The recent horrifying murders of Black Americans shows how much more work needs to be done to reach these goals.

We recognize healthy communities are important for all Idahoans to reach their potential and thrive. We will continue to break down the barriers that prevent people from accessing the tools and resources necessary to create and maintain the health and wellbeing of their communities.

We remain committed to our mission to provide quality civil legal services to low-income and vulnerable Idahoans. We stand with people across this nation in support of the Black Lives Matter movement calling for change to end racism and violence committed toward our Black family, friends, and neighbors.

We will not be bystanders in the fight against bigotry, oppression, and racism. Idaho Legal Aid Services has been on the front line of the fight for equality for more than 50 years. We will continue to use our laws to confront racism and oppression as fundamental to our mission for equal access to justice and equality for all.

We condemn racism and the disparate treatment of minorities both locally and nationally. As a service provider to low-income, vulnerable Idahoans, we see the effects of the marginalization of individuals, families, and communities every day. We recognize that the disparities created by such treatment affects the mental, physical, and social well-being of communities of color. Racism is wrong and contrary to America’s ideals. It is our responsibility to combat and defeat racism and bigotry in all its forms, and Idaho Legal Aid Services, Inc. remains dedicated to this goal.
