Telemarketing is a significant and legitimate business. At the same time, many Idahoans have suffered financial losses due to deception by unscrupulous telemarketers. Similarly, Idahoans report that the large number of calls they receive disturbs their peace and interrupts their family life.
A predatory mortgage is a needlessly expensive home loan that provides no financial benefit to the borrower in return for the extra costs. In many cases, homeowners are deceived about the loan's true costs and terms or are pressured into signing loans they cannot afford. Many of these homeowners lose their homes to foreclosure.

This pamphlet is a brief summary of the rules adopted by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (PUC) concerning electric, natural gas, and water termination practices. The rules apply to all residential customers of investor-owned utilities in Idaho under the jurisdiction of the PUC such as Idaho Power, Avista Utilities, Intermountain Gas, Utah Power & Light, Pacific Power & Light, Citizens Utility, and United Water.
These rules do not apply to cooperative utilities or municipally owned utilities.
