Agricultural and Migrant Farmworker Services

Idaho Legal Aid Services' (ILAS) offices provide the following kinds of help for migrants in the regions of Boise, Caldwell, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls:

  • domestic violence
  • health and public benefits (Medicaid, Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance for Families in Idaho (TAFI)
  • immigration
  • education
  • employment
  • consumer
  • housing

In order to be eligible, you must be the following:

  • a low-income household
  • a citizen or have eligible alien status
  • farm workers (may include sheep herders, diary and processing employees, rock quarry workers)

Some exceptions are:

  • ILAS may help an ineligible Alien who has been abused or a victim of extreme cruelty as long as our help is directly related to the abuse.
  • If ILAS does not have enough resources and/or staff to assist, they may not be able to take the case.

    Housing Services

    All of the Idaho Legal Aid Services' (ILAS) offices may be able to provide the following kinds of help with housing issues:

    • eviction, 3-day notices
    • repairs
    • discrimination
    • mobile homes
    • fair housing violations
    • public housing

    In order to be eligible, you must be the following:

    • a low-income household
    • a tenant
    • still living in the residence

    Some exceptions are:

    • ILAS cannot help someone who is behind in their rent or has violated the terms of his/her lease
    • If ILAS does not have enough resources and/or staff to help, they may not be able to take the case.

        Idaho Legal Aid Services' (ILAS) offices may provide the following kinds of help for Native American legal issues:

        • Indian Child Welfare Act (Child Custody)
        • SSI, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare
        • Domestic Violence, Child Support Enforcement
        • Treaty Rights
        • Land Rights, protection, management
        • Cultural Religious Rights
        • Civil Rights (Discrimination)
        • Community Legal Education
        • Housing
        • Consumer, Bankruptcy, Education, and Employment      

        In order to be eligible, you must be one of the following:

        • a low-income household
        • an enrolled Tribal member

        Some exceptions are:

        • If ILAS does not have enough resources and/or staff to help, they may not be able to take the case. However, please contact your local ILAS office for more information.

          Public Benefits Services

          Idaho Legal Aid Services' (ILAS) offices provide the following kinds of help with public benefits:

          • denial or termination of Medicaid, food stamps, Temporary Assistance to Families in Idaho (TAFI), Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP)
          • denial or termination of Unemployment Compensation Benefits
          • denial or termination of Social Security
          • denial or termination of Public Housing Assistance
          • denial or termination of Title II

          In order to be eligible, you must be one of the following:

          • over 60 years of age
          • a victim of domestic violence
          • a low-income household
          • a low-income Tribal member

          Some exceptions are:

          • If ILAS does not have enough resources and/or staff to help, they may not be able to take the case.

            All of the Idaho Legal Aid Services' (ILAS) offices provide the following kinds of help for seniors:

            • Medicaid eligibility (Miller Trusts)
            • Medicare
            • Marriage settlement agreements
            • Guardianship for senior adults or grandchildren of seniors

            Depending on time and staff availability, the offices may also help with the following:

            • durable powers of attorney
            • wills
            • consumer issues and protection
            • probate (between spouses)

            In order to be eligible, you must be:

            • over 60 years of age

            Some exceptions are:

            • If ILAS does not have enough resources and/or staff to help, they may not be able to take the case.
            • income and asset limits may not apply if a caregiver is seeking help for a relative or friend
