Fair Housing Accessibility First
Once a creditor sues and obtains a judgment (court order) against a debtor they must follow a legal process to obtain payment. The creditor collects on a judgment through a "Writ of Execution" which directs a sheriff to seize the debtor's money, property, or real estate to pay the debt (in limited situations, money or property may be taken before a court enters a judgment). A creditor must collect on the debt within five years after a court issues a judgment, although a creditor can renew a judgment for additional five year periods.
Social Security income is a lifeline for most seniors. Because it is considered so essential for survival, it has traditionally been protected from attachment by creditors. However, there are some exceptions.

The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) promotes the accuracy, fairness, and privacy of information in the files of consumer reporting agencies. There are many types of consumer reporting agencies, including credit bureaus and specialty agencies (such as agencies that sell information about check writing histories, medical records, and rental history records). For example, you must be told if information in your file has been used against you and you have the right to ask for a credit score.

Fair Housing Act
a. The Fair Housing Act, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act, prohibits discrimination in the sale and rental of housing. It prohibits any discrimination that is based on a person’s: Race, Color, Sex, Religion, National Origin, Disability, or Familial Status. These are called “the protected classes.”
b. The purpose of the FHA is to allow everyone in the community freedom to choose where they live.
