SSI stands for Supplemental Security Income. Social Security administers this program. We pay monthly benefits to people with limited income and resources who are disabled, blind, or age 65 or older. Blind or disabled children, as well as adults, can get SSI.

A refugee or asylee is eligible to apply for lawful permanent resident status in the United States one year after being admitted to the U.S. as a refugee or being granted asylum. Please note that the requirements for adjustment to lawful permanent resident status vary depending on whether you are a refugee or asylee.
